Company
Bellingham Repertory Dance Company is a collective of accomplished dancers dedicated to bringing high-quality, vibrant contemporary dance to Bellingham. As a dancer-driven organization, BRDC members share performance, administrative, marketing, production and artistic direction duties.
Now in it's second year of existence, BRDC has already begun to build a reputation for producing fresh, engaging, diverse, audience-pleasing concerts that appeal both to established Modern Dance enthusiasts as well as to new audiences. Our strategy is to choose pre-seen choreographic works for our repertory - pieces that have already been performed and were received favorably by audiences. Choosing only "audience approved" pieces ensures that we present concerts with a high entertainment value. To date, the Company has worked with several regionally and nationally recognized choreographers, including Mary Sheldon-Scott, Deborah Wolf, Paige Barnes, Melissa Rolnick, Dionne Noble, Andy Noble, Oscar Gutierrez, Giavanna Enriquez, Lindsey Drury, and Lena Traenkenschuh. As Bellingham grows and gains stature as an artistic community, we hope to grow as well, bringing great dance works to Bellingham and new audiences to Modern Dance.
BRDC is currently in the process of applying for non-profit status. All of the dancers' time is donated - none are paid. For funding we rely on ticket sales and fundraising events, as well as monetary and in-kind donations from friends, family and supporters of dance.
Bellingham Repertory Dance Company holds annual auditions to join the company. BRDC aims to provide the community with high-quality production and presentation of contemporary dance. The Company creates opportunities for accomplished dancers in our community to perform sophisticated, audience accessible works. Furthermore, BRDC creates professional-level opportunities for established and emerging choreographers.
