BRD presents Around, an evening of contemporary dance. Around is a show about the movement of relationships. Dancers explore arcs, orbits, through-lines, familiarity, distance, and seasonal cycles. Featuring works by choreographers from across the country, BRD is thrilled to share this dynamic show with Bellingham audiences.

Friday, November 8 - 7:30 PM
Saturday, November 9 - 5:30 PM

In Sydney Samson’s “breathing deep on a freezing beach,” movement defines the cyclical patterns of relationships. Morgan Sandlin’s “tastes like grapes, feels like velvet” is a playful personification of purple. A perennial favorite, Deb Wolf’s strikingly athletic “Arc Angle” will return to the BRD stage. Also returning is David Harvey’s meditative work, “Laps,” which invites its audience to witness the power of habitual personal ritual. “Amá,” by Danah Bella, explores “the joys, the disruptions, the significance of touch, and the negotiation between these elements.” Around will also include the premiere of an exciting new work by BRD’s own Soleil Chappelle in collaboration with local artist Tricia Stackle.
Bellingham Repertory Dance is partnering with WashMasks Mutual Aid in their annual Heart of Washington donation drive for Washington farmworkers. WashMasks has requested donations of winter clothing, diapers and period products. BRD invites our community to participate by bringing donations to the performances of around. There will be a donation box for the drive as you enter the theater space.
Washington's phenomenal farm workers are behind nearly all we eat and drink. They are the hands that make that our favorite rainy-day soup or chilled drink on a hot afternoon possible. Let us come together as a community to show our gratitude to those who feed us.
