Eliza Larson Master Class

Bellingham Repertory Dance welcomes Portland-based dance artist and choreographer, Eliza Larson, to teach a contemporary master class on Monday, November 20. Eliza worked with BRD dancers this summer to reset her piece, Serinum Scopuli: Song at Anthemoessa, for Emerge at the Firehouse PAC. We are excited to have her in town! $15/$12 student (no class cards)

Eliza graduated cum laude from St. Olaf College with majors in Dance and English before moving to the Pacific Northwest where she is an independent choreographer, performer, and dance and yoga teacher in Portland, OR. Eliza received her MFA in Dance from Smith College and now directs Fault Line Dance and co-directs Mountain Empire Performance Collective. 

In 2013, Eliza was a member of CREAP-Creative Resident Engaged Artists of Ponderosa, a residency program in Stolzenhagen, Germany. In 2016, she was invited for a residency in Mazatlan, Mexico under the direction of Oman Arrum to study Piso Movil, mobile floor technique. Her choreography has been presented extensively, including at Studio Two (OR), Velocity Dance Center (WA), The National Portrait Gallery (DC), Earthdance (MA), PortFringe (ME), and the Capital Fringe Festival (DC). 

Eliza is also a published writer and scholar whose work has appeared in Kinebago, DanceUSA, Contact Quarterly, and in an issue of JODE (Journal of Dance Education). Eliza’s research on gender in dance has been presented at several conferences around the country including NDEO (National Dance Education Organization, CORD (the Congress on Research in Dance), and SDHS (Society of Dance History Scholars).
